Tickets are divided by areas: If you stay inside Helsinki, you buy Helsinki ticket. If you stay in Vantaa, you buy Vantaa ticket. If you cross the city boarder during your journey, for instance travel to Lumo from Helsinki, you need to buy the regional ticket (in Finnish “seutulippu”). Single use tickets can be bought from train stations, tram stops and bus drivers. On kiosks (R-kioski) you can buy one-day tickets or 7-day tickets. You can also buy tickets on your phone with the app HSL, which works on Android and iOS phones.
